Dear Students, Parents, Guardians and Caregivers

Happy Family Day Weekend! Despite the freezing cold it is my wish that you can take a moment to revel in the warmth and love of family. Sometimes in the busyness of life we forget that our strength comes from those closest to us. Enjoy a meal, go for a walk, complete the household chores, watch a movie or just talk together. There is on old saying, “Appreciate every moment with your family, as all you have will be all you need.”

Don’t forget there are Pro Tips for Attending School

  • Attendance is everything. Being on time and being is class everyday is foundation for success. Ever minute counts and is important. Skipping is not an option. Being late is not an option.
  • Engage in the work. This means being present with the lesson and the work. Learning is an active endeavor. It takes good effort. It requires attention. Just being in the class is not enough. Passivity does not lead to success.

Graduation 2025

Graduation is coming up at the end of May. After seeing students and Grade 12 students already cutting class and choosing to be late I reminded all the Grads in Connect that they not only have to earned their 100+ credits but they also have to be ‘Students in Good Standing’ in order to qualify to walk the stage. Walking the stage is earned. It is a meaningful act to walk the stage. Grads who choose to skip class, are chronically late, are disrespectful to students and staff and resort to violence will not be permitted to walk the stage even if they have earned their credits. Grads who walk the stage have demonstrated the Pearson Values of Respect, Integrity, Empathy and Accountability. The choice is up to them and I hope they choose well.
