Dear Students, Parents, Guardians and Caregivers
As semester 2 begins let me give students and parents a couple of Pro Tips
- Attendance is everything. Being on time and being is class everyday is foundation for success. Ever minute counts and is important. Skipping is not an option. Being late is not an option.
- Engage in the work. This means being present with the lesson and the work. Learning is an active endeavor. It takes good effort. It requires attention. Just being is the class is not enough; passivity equals failure.
Graduation
Graduation is coming up at the end of May. After seeing students and Grade 12 already cutting class and choosing to be late I have reminded all the grads in Connect class that they not only have to earned their 100+ credits but they also have to be Students in Good Standing in order to qualify to walk the stage.
Walking the stage is earned. It is a meaningful act to walk the stage. Grads who choose to skip class, are chronically late, are disrespectful to students and staff and resort to violence will not be permitted to walk the stage even if they have earned their credits. Grads who walk the stage have demonstrated the Pearson Values of Respect, Integrity, Empathy and Accountability. The choice is up to them and I hope they choose well.
